Wedding season is finally back!
And what could be more exciting then planning your big day? Well, the honeymoon of course!
After all the stress of planning for months on end, a calm escape for the pair of you will be exactly what you need to start your married life.
Having a picnic in the wilderness, walking across Northern hidden shores, lazy mornings to cosy up together; here at Hadrian Motorhomes, we have put together some of the most idyllic spots that will make your honeymoon the adventure of a lifetime.
Lake District National Park –
The biggest national park in England offers some of the most stunning scenery, with endless activity options, whether you prefer a simple stroll or a treetop adventure there is something for every couple to enjoy. You can book in activities through the Lake District ‘website’ where you can find plenty of information on everything you will be able to do on your visit.
For the ultimate romantic evening, we recommend finding a quiet spot and staying until nightfall, pack a date night hamper and cuddle up under a blanket, as the Lake District has some of the darkest skies in the country, you will be illuminated by the moon and all the constellations, it’s a star gazers dream!
A city full of history, a Roman built empire that still holds much of the original architecture throughout its streets. A wander down the Shambles will take you back in time, with some of the buildings dating as far back as the 1300’s; and whilst the original butchers’ shops that would line the street may have disappeared, they have been replaced with quaint coffee shops and small businesses, perfect for a quiet afternoon.
Also, if beautiful buildings are something you enjoy, York is a must. Along with the charming streets, everywhere you look there are picturesque views.
The York Minster, however, needs to be top of the list, as the largest Gothic Church in Northern Europe, it holds the biggest expanse of Medieval stained glass in the world; and if that isn’t beautiful enough for you, you can venture up the 275 stairs that take you to a breathtaking view of the cities landscapes.
When looking for somewhere to park up your Hadrian Motorhome, we recommend the ‘Burton Constable Holiday Park’. As it is catered more to couples than families you will experience a tranquil stay and with its own bar onsite with connecting beer garden you can spend evenings enjoying an uninterrupted date night.
Northumberland Coast –
Now for the beaches. Take a trip down the Northumberland Coast; as it was designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in 1958, this 40 mile stretch of picturesque coastline would be ideal for your honeymoon vacation. Within this coastline are many scenic areas that you could visit, Holy Island being one that we would love to recommend.
To get to Holy Island you must wait for a low tide and go by the Northumberland County Council recommended times to make sure you get across safely!
To experience the island at a quieter time, you can also arrive to the island via boat, this tour by ‘Billy Shiels Boat Trips’ takes you around the Farne Islands to view grey seals and sea birds, to then sail over to Holy Island where you may even spot a dolphin or two on the way. Once at the island you will have your time filled with plenty to do including Lindisfarne Castle, a now ‘National Trust’ owned property, this hotspot on the island was built in the 1500’s and sits on volcanic rock. After you have had time to explore the island you will be taken back by boat to shore, just in time to settle down for some dinner together.
